A major refit project for the André L sand dredger

September, 16, 2025

Forme 1 in La Rochelle recently hosted the technical refit of the André L sand dredger. This large-scale operation, carried out over a period of approximately one month, mobilised up to 100 people on board during peak activity, highlighting the scope and technical complexity of the project.

The works included in particular:

  • A complete ten-year inspection of the propulsion system, including the shaft line, propeller, rudder and bow thruster

  • Full repainting of the vessel, covering the underwater hull, topside hull and superstructures

  • An upgrade of the vessel’s automation system

  • Maintenance of dredging equipment and piping networks

  • Retrofit of engine room equipment

  • Comprehensive inspections of the main engine and one generator set

This project demonstrates the ability of the La Rochelle maritime and industrial ecosystem to successfully deliver complex technical operations, relying on the expertise and complementarity of Sea Pole La Rochelle member companies.

Sea Pole La Rochelle congratulates LECAMUS, in charge of the project, as well as all partner companies involved: AIS ELEC, Ateliers Mécaniques des Pertuis, SETA, Hydro Applications, HYDROEM, Antioche Marine Services, Mediaco and SCOPEO, on the successful completion of this major operation.
